Last day or so

Today, I was actually able to get out of bed, and thank goodness for that! As comfy and luxurious as our king size bed is, it definitely started to qualify as "too much of a good thing!" I look forward to the next few days, as I start to regain more and more independence. Steven is so great and patient with all he's been having to do.

As many of you know, Steven's quest for a job has been anything but a smooth ride in the park. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that he was offered a job at what we will refer to as "School A" last Friday and accepted, but it was going to be a 50 minute (or so) drive. Here is the timeline of the events that transpired over the last day...

Thursday
11:55 a.m. - Text from one of MY coworkers: "Hi Liz. Does your husband have a job yet? [A high school in the area, "School B"] has a math position that opened this past week. I know the personnel director if Steven would be interested."
12:38 p.m. - Call from same coworker to me asking for Steven's phone number to pass along to the guy doing the interviews at School B.
12:55 p.m. - Steven gets a call from the contact at the high school conducting interviews and wants to meet to "shoot the breeze" at 2:30 p.m.
2:30 p.m. - Steven meets with a few people at the high school (B) in a very promising "shoot the breeze" session. Steven is very optimistic.
4:00 p.m. - Steven has a phone interview with the department head who was not able to make it to the 2:30 session.

Friday
8:58 a.m. - Steven receives a phone call from School B, saying they would like to offer him the job.
8:59 a.m. - STEVEN ACCEPTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't that amazing how fast that all transpired?? The even more amazing thing is that the school where he just got hired (School B) was at the top of his list before he even started interviewing back in April/May. Unfortunately, they never had any openings! Now his drive is only 30 minutes instead of 50 (to School A), and he is at a smaller, more rural school as opposed to a city (not quite "inner" city) school. Calling to graciously decline School A who offered him the job last Friday was difficult, but I just tried to reassure him that his obligation as a teacher is not to any school, but to himself and his family and what is best for them (us!).

With the speedy surgery process and his luck landing this job one week before school starts is nothing short of a miracle. Someone was definitely watching out for us and had our back these last few days! Thanks AGAIN for everyone's thoughts and prayers!
