Well, less than a week now! Hard to believe it's that close, AND that I've been able to survive three weeks of this school year so far! Some of the ladies wanted to throw me a work shower, and we were definitely cutting it close by having it a week before my due date. It was hosted in our media center, and TONS of people brought so much good food for a delicious breakfast feast. I'd be lying if I said I didn't take a huge plate back to my room for later. (I stayed away from the cantaloupe, though!)
Don't be deceived...that is A LOT of pink! :-)
I wore my "badge of honor" all day. The kids thought it was cute, too
So that was officially my last shower, and it was so nice celebrating with all my friends at work. I don't think I have time to squeeze one more in!
When I went to the doctor about a week and a half ago, I wasn't dilated or effaced at all yet. When I went a few days ago, Thursday, I was dilated about 1 cm, but 75% effaced. Baby's heartbeat was up from the previous visit, and this momma's vitals were all perfect, as always!
I decided at the end of last week that I might need to get away from kids for a few days before I have one of my very own. I was planning on working all of this week, right up until my due date this weekend, but after thinking a lot about it, I decided to take some "me" time and make Wednesday my last day. I'm very proud I made that decision, especially with as hard as I work day-in and day-out at the school and for the students. It was extremely hard convincing myself that sometimes, just sometimes, it's okay to be a little selfish over selfless.
After all, it is for our baby girl. Still so excited!
