Big Days!

Our little Lily bug has had some big, big days lately!!  When something as amazing and wonderful as bringing a new person into this world, it's only logical to want everyone in your life to meet said person!  Over the last few weeks, Lily has done just that!

When she turned one month old, Christopher and Emily flew in from Denver to spend a weekend visiting with their little niece.  Lillian was, of course, on her best behavior, and her aunt and uncle immediately fell in love with her.  We didn't see them Friday night because they got in super late, but we spent a beautiful Saturday together, grilling out and enjoying the day.
Sunday was short-lived since they had to fly back to Denver, but we cherished every moment together!!  Seeing my brother with my little angel just warmed my heart like no other.

When Lillian June was born, we Skyped with her Great Mema from the hospital.  Mema's excitement and enthusiasm on Skype were no match for her thrill in person!  I hope to some day be fortunate enough to experience the joy of holding a great-granddaughter, but I can only imagine the bittersweet joy that Mema must have felt while holding the daughter of her only granddaughter, who is the only daughter of her only daughter, who passed away six years ago.  What a momentous occasion!!

While she was here, Mema got to catch up with some old friends as well, but we know the highlight of her trip was seeing our little angel...  :-)
Mema planned a two-week getaway to visit her sister in Ohio, and they drove here in the middle of that trip.  (Somehow I didn't get any pictures of the two of them!)  They might have taken the long way to get here, but they made it.  :-)  Had a great visit!

Now that I'm feeling completely okay with getting out and about (physically), we're doing a lot more, which I am thoroughly enjoying!  On Friday of last week, Steven and I had our first date night out of the house since Lily was born while Steven's sister graciously watched her for us.  I've been out plenty without Lily for various things, but this was a much-needed outing with BOTH of us.  We went to dinner and a musical (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson) downtown with Dad and Keith and even treated ourselves to some frozen yogurt on our way out of Indy.  Both dinner and the show were fantastic, and I can't believe I didn't take any pictures to mark this momentous occasion!!

The next day, Saturday, Lily made her Hamilton farm debut!    We took a day trip to the farm, and the car traveling was pretty smooth...as smooth as it can be with a seven week old, I guess!  She slept most of the time, and we just stopped a couple times to feed her, get gas, feed ourselves, etc.

We got to the farm much later than anticipated, but it worked out okay because we were able to visit with Granddad for a little bit, and very soon after, Great Great Uncle Mike and Great Great Aunt Carol arrived (with twice the greatness...), trying to squeeze in their "Lily time" before the reunion with Great Aunt Nancy.  Hahaha.  Lily was cracking me up, as usual, because she was quite the fussy gus when we walked in the door to meet Granddad.  She was overdue for a feeding, and she was not listening to my advice about how you only get one chance to make a first impression.  Can't win 'em all, I suppose.  Steven quickly fed her, so that she was in relatively better spirits when family came by.
The untrained ear might not be able to translate her coos, but Lily cries out in her sleep for her (Great) Aunt Nancy every night.  :-)  That made the reunion oh so sweet for the two of them.  Nancy also brought Lily some super cute winter digs.  We know she'll rock them.
Granddad was so cute with our little bug!!  He's still got it!  :-)
Once I photoshop Dad into this picture, we'll have a four generations picture.  Silly Dad...  I told Lily that she didn't put her best face forward in this picture, but she didn't care.
Great Uncle Jeff was in town, and he even held her!  He was probably trying to convince her why Macs are better than PCs before anyone could convince her otherwise...
We had another really great family visit, and now Lily has met both of my remaining grandparents.  It's been a very special time for us.  On our way out of town after the farm, we stopped to visit Mom and "introduce" Lily to her Grandma Wanda.  I'm sure that Lillian June was up in Heaven with Mom before I even got to meet her, so this visit was more for me than for her.

The next day, my chum was in town from Illinois, so we all went out to eat together.  Eric and I have known each other for about 15 years, and he was in my wedding, so it was just another milestone when he got to meet little Lily!
So cute!!

Steven's on fall break starting tomorrow, Friday, and I know he is REALLY looking forward to some time off.  This has been an extremely busy school year, and I know I would be feeling it, too, if I was already back at school.  I can't believe that most women go back to work after six weeks!  I know my recovery was slow, but I was barely efficiently mobile by six weeks!  I'm so glad that are blessed enough for me to be able to take off through the rest of the semester.  ...anyone want to start a "Spring Semester" fund for us?????  :-D
