I never thought I would see the day, but my first official day of teaching is over! I was so excited when I woke up this morning, and I couldn't wait to get started. I wasn't even nervous until the students started coming in, then I thought, "Oh my gosh! I need to throw up!" Hahaha. Silly jitters, really.
The students were good, but very shy, which I'm sure is just a first day thing. I had to wing the introduction activity due to a VERY last minute alert about a peanut allergy. Go figure. The students got progressively antsy, to put it nicely, toward the end of the day.
I had so much fun, and the whole time it just seemed completely surreal. I can't believe I'm actually in my job now! I was about to fall over by the end of the day because I was so tired and hardly slept a wink the night before! My plan was to never bring work home with me, especially since I live so close to school, but I had to get out of there around 5:00! Needless to say, not much work got done tonight!! I plan on going to bed around 8:00 pm, and getting up early again to get some stuff done before school.
I feel like this position has so much potential, and I absolutely adore the people I work with. I wish that everyone got to work with people like this, and all other schools would be much happier and influential places!
The room is JUST ABOUT DONE, so I will put up pictures of it as SOON as that happens. It's a work in progress, to say the least!
