I went to the breast surgeon today, who also did an ultrasound of both areas. She agreed with the radiologist that the tumor on the right is so large that it needs to be surgically removed. She suggested taking the two smaller ones on the left out, but then said that the location of the incision would prevent me from breast-feeding whenever we have kids. (A lot of yummy details, I know, but once you've been in this family long enough, nothing's private!) I decided to hold off on that route, as my primary physician suggested doing six month follow-ups.
The surgeon made it subtly apparent that I would not be able to get the surgery done until after school had already started, resulting in me taking a few days off work. She said she would do her best, though. As I was leaving her office, the lady scheduling the surgery said, "Okay, I have you down for.......tomorrow." I said, "Tomorrow, tomorrow??" She laughed and replied, "Yes, is that too soon?" I was so taken aback and SO happy that it could happen so soon! She went on to tell me that there just happened to be a one hour surgery opening tomorrow at 3:00 pm, and they would reserve that for me. :-)
Also, the surgery was originally going to require local anesthesia, but the surgeon said the tumor is too large to keep me awake. It is still outpatient surgery, but they are giving me an IV and putting me under.
Thank you for all your prayers!!!!!!!!!
