Let the creative juices flow...

Anyone who knows my family well knows that my mother was an artist, and a very good one at that. She also had a very deep love for the arts. When she had my brother and I, the art side of her kind of got...split: My brother got her talent for art, and I got her appreciation for art. I enjoy being creative during the rare moments when I actually feel compelled, but for the most part, I am definitely the least creative person I know!

On the other hand, my husband is one of the most creative people I know, in work, life, and hobbies! He is currently working on fixing up our closet, making it a beautiful work of art. I guess you could say he inspires me to be more creative, or at the least...want to be more creative!

I've been working on designing a project of my own: an art piece to be the focal point of our living room on our largest, barest wall. I designed and painted it all myself, and with Steven's help making the wood mounting, I would say it came out pretty...satisfactory!

The idea that the photograph cannot capture is that there are four painted canvases mounted on stained wood. The red circle uses an impasto technique to provide texture and make the piece more "alive." Although the piece would probably suffice as is, I am still going to make two accent squares that will be mounted on either side of the painting, visually elongating the entire piece. That is still to come. Wish me luck! :-)
