You can't stop the beat...

March was a music-filled month for us; I could hardly stand the excitement!

At the beginning of March, Steven and I along with Dad and Keith went to see Hairspray at Beef and Boards dinner theater in Indianapolis. It was, hands down, one of the best shows I've ever seen, even when competing with Broadway productions. Everyone had phenomenal voices, especially the lead who played the plump and lively Tracy Turnblad. Not a single note was missed, and one of the highlights came during one of my (normally) less-than-favorite songs, Timeless to Me, where the two male singers would stop occasionally to banter with audience members. So funny! I don't think there was a still toe in the house during the entire show!! I could type another whole paragraph on how amazing the food was that evening, but just know that the whole night was an entertainment dream!!

Later in March, Dad, Steph (roomie!), and I went to see...wait for it...wait for it...

IDINA MENZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...accompanied by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

She. Was. A. Dream! If I thought Hairspray knocked my stockings off, I had no idea how amazing Idina was going to be. (Yes, we're on a first name basis!) She took the stage in a gorgeous purple strapless silk floor length dress sans shoes, which immediately set the tone for the Tony Award winner's show. She was casual, informal, personable, witty, beautiful, hilarious, and above all else, a show-stopper. Nearly every song earned her a standing ovation, and it was clear the entire audience was bursting with the same enthusiasm and awe as we were for finally seeing her in person. Her expected finale of Defying Gravity left the audience in a standing ovation for minutes, pleading for an encore. The whole night was, as expected, AMAZING!

Stephanie especially enjoyed seeing the ISO because she played the cello all through high school.

(Yes, I wore the same thing to both shows. ::GASP::)

Besides the fact that I was super sick for two weeks during March, I wish I could go back and relive it! So much fun!
